Renfield
Adrian Martinez (“Focus,” “I Feel Pretty”) has signed on to star alongside Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina and Ben Schwartz in Chris McKay’s monster feature “Renfield” for Universal Pictures. Ryan Ridley wrote the dark comedy’s script.

The story centers on Renfield (Hoult), the henchman of Dracula (Cage) who finds a new lease on life when he falls for feisty, perennially angry traffic cop Rebecca Quincy (Awkwafina). Martinez will play Rebecca’s traffic cop partner Chris. [Source: Deadline]

The Dresden Sun
Mena Suvari (“American Beauty”) will star alongside Steven Ogg, Christina Ricci and Samantha Win in Michael Ryan’s new indie cyberpunk film “The Dresden Sun”.

A heist goes south when mercenary Crilenger (Ogg) and an insider at the Peredor Corporation collaborate to steal one of the company’s valuable assets – an otherworldly technology called ‘the sphere’. [Source: THR]

Samo Lives
Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“Cyrano”) will re-team with his “Luce” director Julius Onah on “Samo Lives,” a new biopic about famed Haitian-Puerto Rican American neo-expressionist artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.

Onah will direct and produce, and co-wrote the script with Peter Glanz. Filming is expected to begin this fall. The artist’s life was previously adapted into the 1996 film “Basquiat” starring Jeffrey Wright. [Source: Variety]

The White Lotus
Michael Imperioli is set to star in the second season of HBO’s “The White Lotus”. The actor will play Dominic Di Grasso, who travels to the resort with his elderly father and college graduate son in tow.

He’s the first cast member HBO has confirmed as a part of the second season though Jennifer Coolidge is expected to return. [Source: Variety]
