The Idea of You
Amazon Studios and Welle Entertainment are working on a film adaptation of Robinne Lee’s novel “The Idea Of You” which is being turned into an Anne Hathaway vehicle. Jennifer Westfeldt (“Kissing Jessica Stein”) is adapting the screenplay while Cathy Schulman is producing.
The story centers on Sophie, a 40-year-old divorced mother who braves the crowds and desert heat of Coachella to look after her 15-year-old daughter. She soon meets 24 year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of the boy band August Moon. [Source: Deadline]
Untitled Lakers Series
Mike Epps will play Richard Pryor and Max E. Williams is Jack Nicholson in HBO’s upcoming Los Angeles Lakers series. Pryor and Nicholson were the two big celebrity fans of the team during the 1980s ‘Showtime’ era which this series chronicles.
Also onboard are Carina Conti as Lakers choreographer Paula Abdul and Mariama Diallo as supermodel Iman. Adam McKay is producing while Max Borenstein is penning and executive producing. [Source: Collider]
Our Flag Means Death
Kristian Nairn, best known as Hodor in “Game of Thrones”, has joined the cast of HBO Max’s pirate comedy “Our Flag Means Death” in the role of ‘Wee John Feeney’.
Nathan Foad, Samson Kayo, Rory Kinnear, Con O’Neill and Vico Ortiz have also joined the cast of the series starring Oscar winner Taika Waititi as the feared pirate Blackbeard. Waititi will also direct the pilot and executive produces the project. [Source: THR]
The Good Fight
Wanda Sykes has scored a recurring role in the fifth season of Robert and Michelle King’s legal drama “The Good Fight” on Paramount+.
