The Running Man
Michael Cera and Emilia Jones are set to join Glen Powell, Josh Brolin, Katy O’Brian and Lee Pace in Edgar Wright’s new film adaptation of Stephen King’s 1982 novel “The Running Man” at Paramount Pictures. Filming begins in London early in the new year.

The story is set in 2025 in an America under a totalitarian regime that uses violent game shows to placate the disenfranchised masses. Cera will play a naïve rebel who tries to help the desperate man, Jones will play a privileged woman blind to the oppression. [Source: THR]

Happy Gilmore 2
Scott Mescudi (“Trap,” “Trolls Band Together”), aka Kid Cudi, is set to join the cast of the Adam Sandler-led “Happy Gilmore” sequel at Netflix. Specifics of his role are unknown.

Sandler, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald are returning and are joined by NFL star Travis Kelce, musician Bad Bunny, filmmaker Benny Safdie and wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman in the project. [Source: Billboard]

The Mastermind
John Magaro will join Josh O’Connor and Alana Haim in Kelly Reichardt’s next film “The Mastermind,” making it his third straight film with Reichardt following “First Cow” and “Showing Up”. The film deals with an art heist during the Vietnam War, while Neil Kopp, Anish Savjani, and Vinvent Savino produce. [Source: Deadline]

The Housemaid
Brandon Sklenar (“It Ends With Us”) has officially signed on to star opposite Sydney Sweeney in Paul Feig’s film adaptation of Freida McFadden’s “The Housemaid”.

Amanda Seyfried co-stars in the film about a young woman who becomes a housemaid to a wealthy couple in hopes of starting a new chapter in her life. However, she’ll soon realized that there’s seemingly something strange about her bosses. [Source: THR]

Killing Breed
Caitlin Stasey (“Smile”) and Damon Herriman (“Justified”) have been set to star in Matt Day’s survival thriller “Killing Breed”. Filming begins in May in South Australia.

The story follows a family desperately fighting for survival at an isolated Outback lodge. On the one hand is a raging bushfire consuming everything in its path, on the other is three savage killer dogs unleashed into the wild. [Source: Deadline]

Crime 101
Monica Barbaro (“Top Gun: Maverick”) is the latest to join Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry in Bart Layton’s “Crime 101” at Amazon MGM.

Layton’s film adapts Don Winslow’s crime novella and deals with a cat-and-mouse chase between an LAPD detective and a master jewel thief committing high-stake diamond heists along the Pacfic Coast Highway. [Source: Deadline]
