Activision’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” has continued to be the fastest-selling entry in the long-running shooter series.

The publisher has revealed the game has crossed the $1 billion mark in just 10 days, surpassing the previous record held by 2012’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” which took 15 days to hit the same level.

Activision adds that over 200 million hours were spent playing over one billion MW2 matches across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms in the game’s first ten days.

Call of Duty GM Johanna Faries says in a statement:

“The incredible momentum driving Modern Warfare 2 is a direct reflection of the energy and passion of the Call of Duty community. As we look ahead to an unprecedented level of support for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0’s launch next week, we are motivated to deliver again for the best player community in the world.”

Modern Warfare 2’s first season of live content will launch on November 16th alongside the free-to-play Warzone 2.0.
