California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a statewide order Monday requiring indoor operations such as cinemas, wineries, museums, bars, zoos, etc. to close effective immediately as coronavirus cases continue to rise.
As of Monday, only 28 cinema locations of the state’s 518 were up and running – almost all of which are smaller, independent locations or drive-in cinemas. The vast majority of the state’s cinemas aren’t planning to reopen until July 31st with the first tentpole being “Tenet” which is scheduled for August 12th.
In addition, indoor operations in additional sectors will be closed in all “counties on our county monitoring list”. Said indoor operations include barbershops, gyms, salons and malls.
