Cailee Spaeny In Talks For “Elden Ring”

20th Century Studios, FromSoftware

“Alien: Romulus” and “Priscilla” star Cailee Spaeny is reportedly in talks for a key role in the forthcoming film adaptation of FromSoftware’s Game of the Year award winner “Elden Ring” at A24.

The Insneider broke the scoop, indicating Spaeny will re-team with filmmaker Alex Garland on the project after the pair worked together on 2024’s “Civil War”.

In the game, players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled years ago from The Lands Between. When the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from.

Spaeny’s role is unknown, but it is rumoured to be Melina, who acts as the Tarnished’s maiden along their journey, or Ranni the Witch.

Announced back in May, Garland will write and direct the project while “Heartstopper” and “Warfare” star Kit Connor has the lead role.

A24 and game publisher Bandai Namco are both backing the project, but it’s not clear if creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is involved. “Game of Thrones” creator George R.R. Martin helped build the lore of the game’s world.

Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Martin and Vince Gerardis will produce.

The game was a massive hit, reportedly shipping over 30 million copies. Subsequent DLC (“Shadow of the Erdtree”) and co-op spin-off (“Nightreign”) have sold 10 million and 5 million copies, respectively.
