The upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event boasts a bunch of actors playing past DC hero screen incarnations including multiple Superman actors from current TV incarnation Tyler Hoechlin on “Supergirl” to other men to have worn the cape including Brandon Routh and Tom Welling.
Also understandable is that the producing team asked numerous other actors to get involved that didn’t end up participating either due to a lack of interest or scheduling conflicts. In a recent interview with IndieWire, producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that the team asked at least one other Superman to get involved – Nicolas Cage.
Cage was famously set to star in Tim Burton‘s cancelled “Superman Lives” film and recently voiced Superman in “Teen Titans GO! to the Movies”. Guggenheim hinted back in October in a seeming joke tweet that they had asked Cage and now says that he was not joking: “You know, to be honest with you, because I never want to lie on these things, that was … yeah, I did. We did reach out to Nic Cage… The thing about movie stars is, they’re all shooting movies, and unless those movies are shooting in Vancouver, we’re kind of out of luck.”
The five-part “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will kick off with “Supergirl” on December 8th.
