Caan, Debicki Joining Fincher’s “Cliff Booth”

CBS, 20th Century Studios

Scott Caan and Elizabeth Debicki are set to join Brad Pitt in David Fincher’s follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 feature “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” reports THR.

The film will center on Cliff Booth, the former stuntman and body double to TV actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) in a period set a good few years after that film.

Tarantino originally wrote the script for himself to direct, but eventually put it aside before Pitt convinced the filmmaker to let Fincher take a stab at directing it.

Once agreed on and set up under Fincher’s deal at Netflix, things have moved fast on the project with casting underway right now as filming is slated to begin this July in California.

Caan and Debicki’s characters are unknown. Two female roles that are said to be in play are a trophy wife, and a bar/mud wrestling establishment owner.

Tarantino penned a 2021 novel going more into Cliff’s backstory, including the death of his wife, but it’s not clear how much of that material will be translated to screen. Sources for the trade indicate the project is being treated with incredible secrecy that goes beyond your average “Star Wars” levels of hush-hush.
