Stone Village Television has won a multiple-outlet bidding war for the screen rights to Charles Leerhsen’s novel “Butch Cassidy: The True Story of an American Outlaw”.
Stone Village plans to self-finance development of a new “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” premium limited series ahead of shopping it around to cable networks and streamers
The series will target an international audience, specifically the Latin American market, as the story follows Butch and Sundance across the U.S. and into Latin America before ending in Bolivia.
Paul Newman and Robert Redford played Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in the legendary 1969 movie that was added to the National Film Registry almost twenty years ago.
