“X-Men,” “Superman Returns” and “The Usual Suspects” director Bryan Singer is returning to directing, around eight years after his career derailed in 2019.

Variety reports that the filmmaker has quietly directed an indie period drama feature starring Jon Voight – one that is reportedly set in Lebanon in the 1970s or 1980s when it was occupied.

The film deals with a father-son story, one of whom is an architect looking for redemption, and is set amid the backdrop of the occupation of Lebanon.

The production was reportedly shot in Greece in 2023, with filmmaker Yariv Horovoitz (“Rock the Kasbah”) involved in some capacity.

Singer last directed “Bohemian Rhapsody,” though he was reportedly fired in December 2017, and Dexter Fletcher was hired to complete the film.

In 2019, The Atlantic published a 2019 exposé containing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, which led to him losing several jobs in the entertainment industry.
