20th Century Studios and Marvel Entertainment have released a 50-second trailer for the long-delayed “X-Men” spin-off film “The New Mutants,” the clip touting the surprise announcement of the film’s presence at the San Diego ComicCon@Home event next week.
Filmmaker Josh Boone will be on hand along with the stars of the movie, including Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt, and Henry Zaga for the panel wihich will be moderated by Ira Madison III and will debut on July 23rd.
The horror thriller is set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.
The teaser trailer for the film premiered in late 2017 and the project hasn’t been able to catch much in the way of breaks due to it being caught up in the Fox-Disney merger messiness and more recently the coronavirus pandemic.
Josh Boone helms the film which is currently now scheduled for release theatrically on August 28th.
