Brief “Lord of the Rings” Series Updates

One of the biggest entertainment projects in the world currently in production at the moment is Amazon’s upcoming “The Lord of the Rings” TV series – a series boasting an insane $1 billion budget over the course of several seasons of production.

As previously reported, the show is set to take place in Middle Earth’s Second Age – millennia before the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” and many centuries before the opening scenes of Peter Jackson’s ‘Rings’ trilogy which sees Sauron defeated for the first time in battle around Mount Doom.

Recently the long-running TheOneRing.Net news site talked about some details regarding the upcoming series including some confirmations that should get fans excited – namely that the characters of Galadriel, Elrond & Sauron are confirmed to be featuring in the series. This is not unexpected as it will likely deal with Sauron’s forging of the rings and his first rise to power.

They add that director J.A. Bayona is currently filming in New Zealand with more local cast added and more local Kiwi crew members “than any production ever”. They also indicate that Bayona is “the director of the first two episodes and, due to COVID, potentially the entire first two seasons.”
