“Y: The Last Man” and “Saga” comics creator Brian K. Vaughan has been set to pen the new TV series adaptation of classic pulp hero “Buck Rogers” at Legendary Entertainment.
The project is being envisioned with a multi-platform and multi-medium approach to the character, developing concurrently a prestige television series, a feature film and an anime series.
The original comic followed a man who, going into suspended animation after a cave-in, awakens five centuries in the future and is enlisted to help fight a war between several gangs in what was once America.
Though highly popular at the time, it’s mostly remembered these days for the short-lived 1979 series “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” which changed up the premise.
Don Murphy and Susan Montford will produce along with Flint Dille, the grandson of the original Buck Rogers creator.
