Brian Cox Hasn’t Seen “Succession” Finale

HBO

British acting legend Brian Cox has spoken his mind for years now, which has often made for highly entertaining interviews that occasionally rile up a storm on social media – which the actor appears to care little about.

With HBO’s “Succession” now wrapped, the former “Kings,” “X2” and “Deadwood” star was asked his thoughts regarding the show’s end. The series saw Cox starring as patriarch Logan Roy throughout its first three seasons before his character was killed off just a few episodes into the fourth.

Cox’s departure came with more than half the season left to air as his character’s three children fought over Logan’s legacy. It turns out Cox hasn’t bothered to watch the final episode of the series as his character isn’t involved – so he’s moved on.

Speaking on The BBC, Cox essentially says once Logan was out of the story, he hasn’t had an interest in finishing the series:

“I’m dead. Dead people don’t watch things like that. And somehow or other, because of what happened to Logan, I’ve been disinclined to watch the rest. I gather that ultimately, in the end, Logan’s won through – even though he’s in the grave. But it’s a strange situation… I don’t cling onto things. When I’m over, it’s over, and I go on.”

Cox does have some thoughts about the final episode, namely tied to the message of the whole series:

“The rich are becoming so out of it. So separated. That’s what our show is dealing with. And, rightly, they got their just desserts at the end. Apparently! I wasn’t in the finale.”

All episodes of “Succession,” including those not watched by Cox, are available on Max now.
