Universal Pictures

“Nope,” “Twisters,” “The OA” and “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” actor Brandon Perea has scored the male lead role in the next installment of the “Insidious” franchise at Screen Gems, Blumhouse and Stage 6 Films.

He joins a cast that includes Amelie Eve, Lin Shaye, Misie Richardson-Sellers, Sam Spruell and Island Austin who were previously announced.

Plot specifics are under wraps but the inclusion of Shaye suggests the return of her Elise Rainier character who has been in all the entries.

Filming on the project got underway this week in Australia under the direction of Jacob Chase who co-wrote the movie with David Leslie Johnson.

The “Insidious” films have so far grossed $740 million worldwide through five movies. The previous entry, “Insidious: The Red Door,” opened in 2023 and grossed $189 million from a $16 million budget.

Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell produce “Insidious 6” which will open in cinemas on August 21st 2026.
