Brainiac, Flag Sr. Set For “Man of Tomorrow”

Warner Bros. Games

Brainiac has been confirmed as the villain of James Gunn’s “Man of Tomorrow” according to a new report at The Wrap.

Since the announcement of the film, the character has long been suspected as the potential antagonist of the film that sees Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) forging a temporary alliance to take on a greater threat.

Gunn teased the possibility when he posted the front page of the “Man of Tomorrow” screenplay, with an image of a human skull with an exposed brain on the cover.

The character has not been depicted in live-action films but has appeared in numerous TV series including “Superman: The Animated Series,” “Smallville,” “Krypton,” and “Harley Quinn” along with games like “Injustice 2” and “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League”.

Frank Grillo has also confirmed to THR that his character of Rick Flag Sr. “is a big part of the sequel’s story”.

Production on the film is set to kick off in Atlanta in April ahead of a release on July 9th 2027. The Jimmy Olsen-led TV series spin-off will be shooting around the same time in Atlanta with Nexus Point News indicating that Skyler Gisondo, Wendell Pierce, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Christopher McDonald will all reprise their “Superman” roles for that show.
