Filmmaker Danny Boyle is reportedly set to direct a stage dance adaptation of the Wachowskis’ 1999 sci-fi blockbuster “The Matrix”.
Titled “Free Your Mind,” the project will debut next October as the inaugural performance of the new Factory International venue in Manchester.
Licensed by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures, the project is dubbed a “large-scale immersive performance” that combines the “hip-hop choreography of hundreds of dancers with the latest immersive design”.
The project aims to “take audiences on a thrilling journey through ‘The Matrix’ and into a new realm of possibilities.”
Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante is composing the music for the show while Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy is choreographing. Tracey Seaward will produce whilst playwright Sabrina Mahfouz will pen the script.
