While the full line-up for the Venice Film Festival isn’t announced until next week, several high-profile titles have reportedly emerged as either locked in or highly likely to make their debut on the Lido.
There are several big hitters too starting with Luca Guadagnino’s 1980 cannibal love story “Bones and All” starring Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Russell, along with Olivia Wilde’s steamy and surreal psychological thriller “Don’t Worry Darling” starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles.
There’s also Andrew Dominik’s explicit Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde” starring Ana de Armas, and the long-awaited return of “In the Bedroom” helmer Todd Field with his new female conductor biopic feature “Tar” starring Cate Blanchett.
Also likely on the way is Noah Baumbach’s adaptation of Don DeLillo’s “White Noise” starring Greta Gerwig and Adam Driver, while Paul Schrader’’s new Joel Edgerton and Sigourney Weaver-led feature “The Master Gardener” is strongly tipped for an out-of-competition berth.
Also potentially on the way are Alejandro G. Inarritu’s new film “Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths,” Iranian auteur Jafar Panahi’s drama “No Bears,” South Korean director Hong Sang Woo’s latest “Walk Up,” and Takeshi Kitano’s period actioner “Kubi”.
The Venice line-up in recent years has often incorporated several films that go on to Best Picture nominations at the Oscars. The 75th edition of the film festival will run from August 31st to September 10th.
