Blumhouse Pictures has acquired the rights to an astonishing recent New York Times story about Mexican human rights activist Miriam Rodriguez.
The story “She Stalked Her Daughter’s Killers Across Mexico, One by One,” recounts Rodriguez who fearlessly and singlehandedly tracked down the kidnappers who abducted and murdered her daughter.
She helped to imprison ten members of a local cartel in San Fernando before being shot and killed in front of her home on Mother’s Day in 2017.
Azam Ahmed, the story’s writer, will produce the project alongside Caitlin Roper and Jason Blum. Over sixteen production companies and studios chased the rights to the story before Blumhouse won the project.
