“Blue Beetle” Director Sets “Wrecking Crew”

Warner Bros. Pictures

Filmmaker Angel Manuel Soto, the helmer of the DC Comics adaptation “Blue Beetle,” has set his next project.

The helmer has signed on to direct the action buddy comedy feature “The Wrecking Crew” at MGM which is expected to team both Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa.

The project hails from “Warrior” series creator Jonathan Tropper who penned the script and closed his deal before the writer’s strike began in June.

Both the action stars were in talks for the movie until the actor’s strike began a month ago, which halted negotiations. Nevertheless is a project the duo have been linked to for a while, helping initially set up the project at MGM in 2021. Jeffrey Fierson (“Frontier”) is producing.

Specifics of the film’s plot are under wraps for now. Bautista was most recently in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and has “Dune: Part Two” on the way this November, whilst Momoa just starred in “Fast X” and has “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” due out in December.

Soto also helmed the Sundance hit “Charm City Kings” and is co-writing an upcoming “Transformers” spin-off for Paramount Pictures.
