With movie exhibition down for the count until well into May at least, Sony Pictures is following in Universal and Warners’ footsteps and will be bringing the Vin Diesel-led action feature “Bloodshot” to Digital HD early.
The film, which opened just last week in cinemas to a $9.1 million debut weekend, will be available for electronic sell-through on March 24th for the retail price of $19.99.
Tom Rothman, Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group, says in a statement that his studio is “firmly committed to theatrical exhibition and we support windowing” but adds that due to this “unique and exceedingly rare circumstance” making “Bloodshot” abruptly unavailable in any medium, they’ve gone early with its home video release.
