Bloober Team To Remake “Silent Hill 1”

Konami

Following the major critical and commercial success of last year’s “Silent Hill 2” remake, Konami is continuing forward with the franchise.

The publisher has confirmed that it is in development of a remake of the original 1999 game with Bloober Team, the same developers behind last year’s SH2 remake, working on this as well.

In February, it was announced Bloober Team had signed a deal with Konami to make a new game based on the latter’s IP. Now it’s clear that deal was for a remake of the first “Silent Hill” game.

The original game follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in the eponymous town. He stumbles upon a cult conducting a rite to revive a deity it worships.

While the second game is often cited as the pinnacle of the franchise, the original “Silent Hill” was a big success and considered one of the greatest video games ever made – especially in the survival horror and psychological horror genres.

No word on any potential date for this, be it going into production or release.
