“Blonde,” “Morbius” Dominate The Razzies

Critics Slam Pinocchio Mostly Love Blonde

Andrew Dominick’s Marilyn Monroe biopic “Blonde,” the Sony-Marvel comic adaptation “Morbius,” and American acting icon Tom Hanks were the ‘winners’ at this year’s 43rd annual Golden Raspberry Awards (aka. The Razzies) celebrating the worst films of the year.

“Blonde” took the top prize of Worst Picture along with the Worst Screenplay honor for Dominik’s script. “Morbius” took Worst Actor for Jared Leto’s leading role along with that film’s Adria Arjona for Worst Supporting Actress. Machine Gun Kelly (aka Colson Baker) & Mod Sun’s work on “Good Mourning” scored them Worst Director.

Meanwhile, Tom Hanks scored a pair of Razzie statuettes for Worst Supporting Actor and Worst Screen Combo (for Hanks and his latex face) for his role as Col. Tom Parker in “Elvis”. The Hanks-led “Disney’s Pinocchio” also took Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel.

Following the organisation’s blunder for nominating a pre-teen for worst actress, the awards committee publicly apologized to that actress and changed the rules to disallow anyone under 18. The awards organization put itself in her place on the ballot and so The Razzies ended up winning Worst Actress by a landslide.

Finally the Razzie Redeemer award, arguably the only genuine honor of the whole ceremony, is handed to someone who becomes a respected artist after having previously been nominated for a Razzie.

This year that award went to Colin Farrell who was nominated for the Razzie back in 2005 for “Alexander” and is now an Oscar nominee this year for “The Banshees of Inisherin”.
