Mel Brooks’ iconic comedy “Blazing Saddles” is getting a remake, albeit not in a way you would expect.
Los Angeles film company Align is developing the animated film “Blazing Samurai” which will take the basic premise of the famed 1974 comedy and transplant it to the samurai era, albeit one with anthropomorphic animals.
Mark Koetsier helms the film which follows a dog named Hank who dreams of becoming a Samurai. When he becomes in charge of protecting the town of Kakamucho, he learns the town is populated entirely by cats.
Brooks himself along with Michael Cera, Samuel L. Jackson, Ricky Gervais, George Takei, Michelle Yeoh, and Djimon Hounsou are all lending their voices to the project which will be produced by original “The Lion King” director Rob Minkoff.
