It’s official, Amazon Studios’ big-budget live-action series “Blade Runner 2099” is a go with the project picked up to series for Amazon Prime Video.
Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1982 film, is executive producing the series with Silka Luisa (“Shining Girls”) set to write and executive produce for Scott Free Productions, Amazon Studios and Alcon Entertainment (“The Expanse”).
This marks the third major live-action installment in the franchise following the original and Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049”. With the action taking place fifty years after Villeneuve’s film, it’s not clear what the storyline or characters might be.
Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, Cynthia Yorkin, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger and “Blade Runner 2049” scribe Michael Green will all executive produce alongside Scott.
