“Birds of Prey” Surprises With Rental Drop

Two weeks after Warner Bros. Pictures released “Birds of Prey” on VOD to purchase for $19.99, they’ve made it available to rent for $5.99 – that ability coming just two months after the film’s theatrical premiere.

This is one of the first and certainly the biggest of the ‘fast tracked’ film titles in recent weeks to drop its price and has people wondering if the same will happen for other titles soon like “Bloodshot,” “The Invisible Man” or “The Hunt”.

Disney has already made “Onward” available for $5.99 rent on VOD services, though has also made it freely available on Disney+ at this point.

The move has worked for ‘Birds’ which has shot straight to the top of the iTunes film charts this week after placing only second when launched and dropping further down the Top 10 in subsequent days.

A real test on that front will be “Trolls World Tour” which will have its Premium VOD release from this Friday.
