“Billions” To End With Seventh Season

Showtime

Showtime has confirmed that the upcoming seventh season of its hit drama “Billions” will be the show’s last.

Set to begin streaming on August 11th ahead of a network premiere on August 13th, the new season will feature the return of Damian Lewis as Bobby Axelrod.

The universe the series inhabits is expected to continue within several spinoff series in development including “Millions,” “Trillions” and two other shows set in specific locations.

All those projects hail from the original show’s co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien. The spin-offs are part of Showtime’s new strategy to franchise its most successful originals.

Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, says in a statement:

“This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.”

The twelve-episode final season also stars Paul Giamatti, Maggie Siff, Corey Stoll, David Costabile, Asia Kate Dillon, Dola Rashad, Jeffrey DeMunn, Sakina Jaffrey, Daniel Breaker and Toney Goins.

Koppelman, Levien and Beth Schacter serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.
