Veteran screenwriter Ed Solomon, the co-creator of the “Bill & Ted” films and a writer of such movies as “Men in Black” and McG’s first “Charlie’s Angels,” has revealed an interesting story.
In a post on Twitter this morning, Solomon revealed that at one time he was apparently (briefly) considered a suspect in the infamous Night Stalker home invasion murders in Los Angeles in 1985.
Of course, the Night Stalker ultimately turned out to be Richard Ramirez, a satanist, serial rapist and vicious murderer who never expressed any remorse for his crimes. He was imprisoned until his death in 2013.
Solomon says he learned he was a suspect when reporters began calling him in the middle of the night. They indicated Solomon’s car was reportedly found at a Night Stalker crime scene, but Solomon could see his car outside the window of his Westwood apartment.
Then the police arrived and he answered the door in just his briefs. Ultimately they got new information and then went to look elsewhere. Turns out his best friend’s car, which he co-signed the loan for years before and which the friend had just sold onto someone else, was still registered to Solomon’s address.
That car was stolen from the new owner by Ramirez and driven to the murder site where it was abandoned. Head over to Twitter to read the full story which has some more twists and turns.
Ramirez is the subject of the recent Netflix docuseries “Night Stalker” but Solomon’s story is not a part of that series.
