“IT” actor Bill Skarsgard has been set to play Swedish criminal Clark Olofsson in the six-part Netflix series “Clark”.
The Swedish language adaptation of Olofsson’s autobiography follows the colorful convicted drug trafficker and bank robber reflecting on his criminal escapades which began in the 1960s.
In 1973 whilst incarcerated, a bankrobber named Jan-Erik Olsson took hostages at a bank in Stockholm. At Olsson’s demand, Olofsson was brought to the bank where he spent the next six days with the hostages.
The incident led to the coining of the term “Stockholm syndrome” in which hostages forge an affinity with their captor.
“Clark” will be directed by Jonas Akerlund (“Lords Of Chaos”) who will co-write with Fredrik Agetoft ans Peter Arrhenius. Akerlund and Skarsgard and Hans Engholm will executive produce.
