Following their success together with the “Beauty and the Beast” live-action adaptation, filmmaker Bill Condon is returning to Disney Pictures for “Marley,” a musical reimagining of the Dickens classic “A Christmas Carol”.
Boasting music by Stephen Schwartz (“Wicked” musical, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Pocahontas”), the new take aims to reinvent the well-known story by conveying it through the eyes of Jacob Marley – the deceased business partner of Ebenezer Scrooge.
Marley’s apparition, weighed down by chains and endless torment, visits Scrooge and foretells the cold-hearted miser Scrooge of his impending visits from three ghosts.
Condon has already written the script and plans to direct, but the project hasn’t received a green light as yet. Dan Jinks and Greg Yolen are producing.
