Benson & Moorhead Plan “Endless” Series

Celebrated indie genre filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are turning one of their works into a TV series.

The pair broke through with 2012’s “Resolution” and 2014’s “Spring” which led to 2017’s “The Endless,” then their biggest budget feature with the Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan-led “Synchronic” in 2019, and last year’s smaller scale “Something in the Dirt”.

The pair also directed two episodes of Marvel’s “Moon Knight” and are directing the majority of the second season run of Marvel’s “Loki” due this year.

They’re now bringing that directing expertise to a series set within the same universe as 2017’s “The Endless”. Speaking with the Script Apart podcast (via Empire), the pair confirm they are currently deep into writing the project. Benson says:

“Nights and weekends are spent working on what is our next thing for that [independent output]. Which is essentially, what is hopefully a TV show – at smallest another indie film – in the Endless universe. That’s where we put all of our passion.”

Moorhead says the main characters will be themselves playing their “Endless” characters (Aaron and Justin) again. The original film followed a pair of brothers who visit an alleged UFO cult in the forests of San Diego that they used to belong to as children.

As they seek answers, they get caught up in the adventure of a lifetime involving a time loop and aliens. The pair starred, directed and produced with Benson penning the script. In addition characters from 2012’s “Resolution” are glimpsed in “The Endless”.

Though all their other films apparently take place in the same universe, “Endless” will be the focus.
