Ben Whishaw Circling “Elden Ring” Film

FromSoftware

Emmy winner Ben Whishaw, the “Black Doves” and “Skyfall” star who is also the voice of Paddington bear, is circling a major lead role in Alex Garland’s “Elden Ring” film at A24.

The Insneider broke the news, indicating Whishaw would join the already linked “Heartstopper” and “Warfare” star Kit Connor in the film which looks to be the distributor’s most expensive film to date.

Garland is writing and directing the adaptation of the best-selling FromSoftware video game which became not just a critical darling and Game of the Year winner but an instant sales success – selling over 30 million copies worldwide since its 2022 launch.

Created in collaboration with “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin, it unfolds in a world called The Lands Between. Players take on the role of one of the Tarnished, individuals whose ancestors were exiled years ago.

When the Elden Ring is shattered, they get the chance to return and conquer the land they were once banished from. Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, Martin and Vince Gerardis produce the film adaptation.

No word as yet when “Elden Ring” will go into production.
