If there’s one thing that a “Highlander” movie should have, it’s that somebody at some point is going to get decapitated.
Well, according to one of the stars of the upcoming Henry Cavill-led reboot film currently in production, there’s going to be no shortage of that.
Cavill is playing Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he is an immortal warrior. With the help of a swordsman named Ramirez (Russell Crowe), the Highlander battles other immortals across the centuries.
Out promoting the just-released shark movie “Thrash,” actor Djimon Hounsou has confirmed to ComicBook.com that there will be “a lot” of beheadings in the film and that fans of the original 1986 feature will be very happy:
“They’re gonna love this movie. The scale of the action in this one … certainly, being directed by Chad, the guy who directed all the John Wick [movies]. And it’s an amazing cast as well. It’s going to be spectacular. The sets, the way how they’re designed … certainly, my set was just [great].”
Alongside Cavill, Crowe and Hounsou, other actors in the film include Dave Bautista as The Kurgan, Karen Gillan, Marisa Abela, Jeremy Irons, Max Zhang, Drew McIntyre, Siobhán Cullen, Jun Jong-seo, Nassim Lyes and Kevin McKidd.
Michael Finch wrote the script for the film, which “John Wick” franchise helmer Chad Stahelski is directing. The film is currently targeting a 2027 release.
