The title of “Becoming Led Zeppelin” has been announced for the recently completed new project by filmmaker Bernard MacMahon (“American Epic”).
First announced in 2019, the feature marks the first and only time the group behind such music as “Stairway to Heaven” and “Immigrant Song” has participated in a documentary in fifty years.
Their only real film showcase before was 1976’s “The Song Remains the Same” which was mostly a concert film made up of a series of Madison Square Garden performances in 1973.
A combination of an intense global search and years of restoration of the visual and audio archive now offers unprecedented access to the band. It also new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, as well as rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham.
A release date hasn’t been set as yet.
