“Wyrmwood” and “Nekrotronic” director Kiah Roache-Turner has been set to helm the survival action thriller “Beast of War” for Cornerstone. The “adrenaline-fuelled shark movie” will be launched at the upcoming American Film Market.
The story begins in 1942 when a warship, carrying hundreds of Australian soldiers across the Timor Sea to the frontline of WW2, is attacked by the Japanese.
With the vessel destroyed, a handful of soldiers build a makeshift raft from floating debris as they cling to their lives. Tensions run high between the terrified young men, as they band together in an effort to survive.
In the dark below, a great white shark hunts in the wreckage and is drawn to the smell of fresh blood in the water.
Blake Northfield and Chris Brown produce the project which will be shot next year in Australia and Malta. CreatureNFX director Paul Trefry (“Unbroken,” “Alien: Covenant”) will handle the practical creature effects.
Cornerstone is also handling worldwide sales and distribution for Roache-Turner’s arachnophobia horror “Sting” which Studiocanal is releasing.
