The CW has released the first promo photos showing off Javicia Leslie in a redesigned costume as the new “Batwoman” for that show’s second season.
The red wig of Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane is gone for Leslie’s Ryan Wilder, the new suit and new cowl highlighting her natural curly hair with red streaks.
Talking about the new look, executive producer Caroline Dries tells Deadline: “As Ryan embraces everything that makes her special, she adjusts the suit to fit her physically and figuratively. This meant creating a new body design and new cowl that was undeniably a statement that screamed ‘powerful.'”
Dries goes on to admit the “wig was something we never perfected in season one” but adds that designer Janice Workman “crushed it with this new take”.
Other new cast members this season are Shivani Ghai as Safiyah, Leah Gibson as The Whisper, Nathan Owens as Ocean and Alex Morf as Victor Zsasz. The new season is targeting a January start.
