An audio drama is in the works that will continue the iconic 1990s “Batman: The Animated Series” with writer Alan Burnett developing the project.
Appearing on Saturday during Los Angeles Comic Con, actor Kevin Conroy (Batman) and John Glover (The Riddler) revealed the news with Conroy saying: “It’s a great script by Alan Burnett and it brings back the original cast.”
Glover adds: “The Riddler’s back, and he’s evolved in many ways … He understands he’s on the spectrum.” Conroy also confirmed that Danny Elfman will write the theme for the podcast, but it’s not clear as yet what platform it will be released through.
It’s all not clear which other castmembers might return though surviving voice actors include Mark Hamill (Joker), Paul Williams (The Penguin), Richard Moll (Two-Face), David Warner (Ra’s Al Ghul), Diane Pershing (Poison Ivy), Adrienne Barbeau (Catwoman), Ron Perlman (Clayface), Melissa Gilbert (Barbara Gordon) and Loren Lester (Robin/Nightwing).
The Emmy-winning original “Batman: The Animated Series” ran for 85 episodes from 1992-95. The series is still considered one of the greatest animated series made, especially in terms of the superhero genre.
