Angela Bassett will reprise her role of CIA Director Erika Sloane in at least one of the upcoming seventh and eighth installments of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise reports Coming Soon.
The seventh film in the series is currently shooting. Bassett first appeared in the sixth film, “Mission: Impossible Fallout,” with her minion Walker (Henry Cavill) proving to be one of the film’s key antagonists.
Out doing promotional rounds for Pixar’s “Soul,” Bassett revealed that plans are in the works to have her reprise her role but she wouldn’t say which film she would be appearing in. The actress also expressed excitement about returning to the franchise:
“The real conversation is when, I think they’ve begun filming, or that was the plan, but you know in these trying times, the best laid plans of mice and men sometimes go awry. But I do have the pages, we’ll just see when I get the ticket to fly and go do my part, but that’s coming up and I’m really excited about it.”
Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff and Esai Morales all star in the seventh film. Christopher McQuarrie is penning and directing both films.
“Mission: Impossible 7” is set to premiere on November 19th 2021 and “Mission: Impossible 8” on November 4th 2022.
