“Barbarian” Tops Quiet Weekend Box-Office

Horror film “Barbarian” topped the box-office for the weekend, the Bill Skarsgard-led film about a horror Airbnb came in above expectations with $10 million in its domestic debut.

That was enough to easily lead a continuing drought of releases at the cinema and the second slowest weekend box-office of the year. The only other new release was the film “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva” – the first in a three-part Bollywood film series – which came in second with $4.4 million.

Critics adored “Barbarian,” but the film snagged a C+ CinemaScore, which suggests a divided audience over the film’s twisted turns.

“Bullet Train” pulled into third place with $3.2 million, followed by “Top Gun: Maverick” in fourth with a further $3.17 million and “The Invitation” in fifth with $2.6 million.
