Bane Masks A Hot Ticket Item In Pandemic

Masks based on the design used by Tom Hardy’s character Bane in 2012’s “The Dark Knight Rises” have apparently become a hot commodity during the coronavirus pandemic.

With requirements enacted by state and local governments requiring residents to wear a mask when going outside for any task, plastic adult Bane masks (which are not approved by medical officials) are sold out on a number of costume sites.

A spokesman for Costume.com says “the adult mask had quite a sales spike in April and early May” which is unusual for this time of year. The costume on the other hand remains well in stock, indicating customers were more interested in the mask only.

It has gotten bad enough that the U.S. military has jokingly had to weigh in, saying that Bane masks were not an acceptable face covering during the pandemic.
