Eric Bana is signed and Rachel McAdams is in final negotiations to play the time-crossed lovers of New Line’s “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”
Based on the Audrey Niffenegger novel, the romance follows a Chicago librarian (Bana) who has a genetic disorder causing him to involuntarily time travel forward and backward when he’s under stress.
He tries to build a life with a young heiress (McAdams) whom he loves, but while her life progresses in a normal manner, his age darts back and forth – meaning the two are often out of sync.
Robert Schwentke (“Flightplan”) directs the film which begins filming in August, based on Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin’s script.
