“Bad Boys for Life” has officially been crowned the 2020 domestic box office champion.
Releasing in January, the movie was one of the few this year to almost have a full theatrical run – as a result, it pulled in $204.4 million.
In second, Sam Mendes’ “1917” made the lion’s share of its haul in 2020 with $157.9 million. “Sonic the Hedgehog” was third with $146 million.
Rounding out the top five were the 2020 remaining runs of “Jumanji: The Next Level” ($124.7 million) and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” ($124.4 million).
Worldwide, the largest hit of 2020 was record-setting Chinese blockbuster “The Eight Hundred” which earned $461.3 million. That was followed by “Bad Boys for Life” with $426.5 million.
