“Back to the Future” Gets An IMAX Re-Release

Universal Pictures

With “Jaws” now playing in IMAX this week to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary film, it seems another iconic classic will soon be doing the same thing.

Robert Zemeckis’ 1985 sci-fi feature “Back to the Future” will celebrate its 40th anniversary later this year, and now fans can participate with an IMAX re-release of the title on October 31st this year.

Tickets for the re-release are available now on IMAX’s website while a new trailer and new posters have been released for the film promoting the upcoming screenings.

Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson starred in the film, the first of a trilogy involving Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager who is sent back to 1955 in a time-travelling DeLorean car.

The first film is considered one of the greatest movies of the 1980s and in 2007 was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
