“Homeland” and “Firefly” actress Morena Baccarin has revealed that despite a third “Deadpool” going ahead at Marvel Studios, she’s not sure if she’ll return as Ryan Reynolds’ love interest Vanessa.
Baccarin played the character across the first two “Deadpool” films, though her character dies in the opening scene of the sequel (and comes back in a vision).
Whilst other cast members from the previous two films have been confirmed to return in the third one, the possibility of Baccarin’s return hasn’t been so clear, even if only for a cameo.
This week, speaking on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, she was asked what’s up with the third film, which we know is going into production this Summer. She says:
“Yeah, what is up with ‘Deadpool 3? That’s a really good question. I have to be very diplomatic about what I say here. I’d like to be in it. They have called me about being in it… Right now, we have not agreed on terms, and everybody’s trying their best and doing their best. It may or may not work out. I don’t know.”
She adds that Marvel and Disney are looking to make this threequel “much more about Wolverine and Deadpool” with Hugh Jackman reprising his role from the “X-Men” films:
“I do think that this movie, since the acquirement of this Deadpool universe by Marvel/Disney… that merger that happened, I do feel like they’re trying to reinvent it a little bit. I think this movie is going to be much more about Wolverine and Deadpool… Hugh’s going to be a huge part of it. I’m sure he’ll be great.”
“Deadpool 3,” which is expected to be fully integrated into the MCU, will shoot through the back half of this year ahead of a November 2024 release.
