Two years after the second season of “Master of None,” Aziz Ansari is returning to Netflix with a new stand-up special – four years after his previous special streamed on the platform.
Titled “Aziz Ansari: Right Now” and directed by the one and only Spike Jonze (“Her,” “Being John Malkovich”), it will drop on the service on July 9th.
Ansari has essentially avoided TV and film in the last few years following the sexual misconduct allegation made against him in January 2018. In an article on Babe.net, the story recounted an awkward date with Ansari in which his female companion felt pressured into sexual activity despite her giving multiple cues of discomfort.
Ansari addressed the allegation at a pop-up show stage in February this year saying he needed time to think through what he wanted to say. This special will potentially see him address it.
“Master of None” was never officially cancelled and Netflix head of original content Cindy Holland has previously expressed the desire for there to be another season.
