“End of Watch” and “Suicide Squad” filmmaker David Ayer has come onboard to direct the Jason Statham-led fast-paced action thriller “The Beekeeper” at Miramax.
Penned by Kurt Wimmer (“The Recruit,” “Salt,” “The Thomas Crown Affair”) and “deeply steeped in the mythology of Bee Keeping,” the unconventional story follows a man’s personal journey of vengeance which takes on national stakes.
Filming is slated to begin in September in London and Atlanta. Statham, Wimmer and Bill Block are set to produce.
This marks Statham’s third recent Miramax film following Guy Ritchie’s “Wrath of Man” and the upcoming “Operation Fortune: Ruse De Guerre”. He currently has “The Meg 2” and “Expend4bles” in production.
