Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and star Robert Downey Jr. were on hand at CinemaCon this evening to promote “Avengers: Doomsday” as the big closing title of Disney’s panel.
First up, they confirm that the title isn’t moving from its December 18th release date – it is staying put and will go up against “Dune: Part Three”.
With the latter taking all the IMAX screens, Disney announced InfinityVision – a ‘branding’ for fans to easily find and book premium format screens for the movie.
Footage from the film was shown, including Thor fighting Doctor Doom with the latter managing to stop Stormbreaker with just one hand, Doom’s scarred face is glimpsed and his accented voice heard, Professor X watching an incursion, Cassie Lang returns, Mystique turning into Yelena, a Shang-Chi and Gambit fight scene, and Thor meeting with The Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts in Avengers Tower.
Thor’s dialogue: “I fought with many warriors in my time. They were far stronger than all of us put together, they died. They died facing enemies and threats that scared me far less than this one. Everything they sacrificed for will be for nothing if we do not stand together… If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters.”
One scene has Thor saying “it’s not possible” until Steve Rogers reaches for Mjolnir and it leaves Thor’s hand, coming to his.
In addition, they confirmed “Avengers: Endgame” is returning to cinemas this September with “deleted scenes and other surprises”.
