“Avatar: The Last Airbender” S3 Filming Update

Netflix

“KPop Demon Hunters” and “Hawaii Five-0” actor Daniel Dae Kim has offered an update on how production is going on Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” animated series.

The show’s first sesson launched in late February 2024 to mixed reviews but strong numbers. Within a few weeks, the streamer renewed the series for two more seasons with the plan being to end the show with that third run.

Shot in Vancouver, production on the second season began in September 2024 and wrapped this past May with the plan being for a 2026 premiere.

Now, speaking with ScreenRant, Kim confirms that the third season essentially went into production right after the second and they’ve already made good progress:

“We’re in the middle of shooting it right now. In fact, I just flew in from Vancouver last night from shooting. Where are we? We’re about a third of the way through.”

That would suggest the third season will remain in production probably throughout the rest of this year.

Kim plays Fire Lord Ozai in the Netflix series which also stars Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Ken Leung.
