Next week sees James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” return to cinemas worldwide for a re-release on IMAX screens.
Not unexpectedly, each screening of the film will be accompanied by never-before-seen footage from this December’s forthcoming “Avatar: Fire and Ash” film. However, not everyone will get the same experience.
Variety reports that three different clips from the third film are being released for the screenings, but each screening will only play one of the three and it’s potentially going to be random.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” opened in 2022 and grossed $2.3 billion worldwide, the third highest-grossing film of all time after its predecessor and “Avengers: Endgame.”
The third film will see the return of Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña’s Jake Sully and Neytiri whose family and tribe encounter an enemy Na’vi group called the Ash People. As conflict escalates, the fate of Pandora may rest in their hands.
Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, Bailey Bass, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, Jack Champion and Edie Falco also return while Oona Chaplin and David Thewlis join the cast.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” re-release will arrive on October 3rd, while “Avatar: Fire and Ash” opens in cinemas on December 19th.
