As part of Sony’s State of Play event today, a new story trailer was shown for the “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” game which launches on December 7th and is based on James Cameron’s sci-fi franchise.
Blending both cinematics and gameplay, the title showcases the varying aspects of play, which includes shifts primarily first-person but sometimes third-person perspectives, flying, horseriding, parkour, mech combat, boss fights, shooting with everything from LMGs to bow and arrows, and a lush gameplay world.
Set after the events of the first film though relatively standalone, players take control of a Na’vi orphan raised and trained as a soldier by the RDA, before being put into suspended animation and waking up fifteen years later in an abandoned facility.
The player must embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen continent of Pandora, discovering their origins and organizing the local Na’vi tribes to fight back against the RDA as they attempt to exploit the natural resources of the Western Frontier.
The game is a collaboration between Disney and James Cameron’s production company Lightstorm Entertainment and has been designed to maximize the power of new-gen consoles and PC.
“Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora” will be available on December 7th on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Amazon Luna.
